Talking the talk is never enough—walking the walk is what counts....

C&S and its employees are involved. Not because it is mandated. Not because it makes us feel good about ourselves. Not even because it's the right thing to do (although it certainly is!). Our people are involved because they genuinely care about the well-being of the communities in which we live, believe in lending a helping hand to those less fortunate, and share in a spirit of giving back.

From Syracuse to San Diego, C&S employees - individually and collectively - donate their time, talents, and money to many worthy organizations. You'll see C&S folks volunteering in such wide-ranging activities as cleaning up local parks, cooking and serving meals to those in need, doing home repairs for the elderly, answering phones for charitable telethons and auctions, leading a host of different youth group initiatives, and helping out at fundraiser events.

The C&S Community Service Team (CST) was formed to foster community spirit throughout the organization, to develop a program that aligns with our values statement, and to encourage each and every employee to participate in some form of volunteer or charitable service. Though not a new idea for the countless C&S employees who have always given of their time and talents to myriad causes, this team was organized to increase the number and variety of opportunities available to make a positive community impact.

The CST believes that it is our collective responsibility, as a good corporate citizen, to support the communities in which we live and work. In doing so, each of us as individuals can also make a difference.

The CST is dedicated to four key goals:

  • Provide resources and tools that combine the talents of C&S employees with community needs.
  • Help employees understand how volunteer opportunities can be used to enhance personal/professional skills and development.
  • Encourage and recognize volunteers for their efforts.
  • Exemplify C&S's vision, mission, values and behaviors through volunteerism.

In fact, C&S' headquarters office was presented with the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce Community Involvement Business of the Year award, a distinction that remains at the height of our overall accomplishments as an organization. To continue to walk the walk, a company community service team was established to coordinate and promote the further engagement of all our offices and people in making our world - locally, nationally, and internationally - a better place to live.
