Cingular Wireless Broadband Network Design Services

Cingular Wireless was a national provider of wireless voice, messaging, and data services to customers throughout the United States. Cingular has since been purchased by AT&T Wireless.

C&S supported Cingular’s network development by providing site/civil services for approximately 175 new sites in 2004/2005. Project locations include Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island.

Design services included the performance of engineering site design walks and the preparation of lease, zoning, and construction drawings. Additional design services included the performance of geotechnical investigations, structural reviews for existing towers and rooftops, and structural designs for existing tower and rooftop retrofits. C&S has also provided topographic and boundary surveys, environmental reviews including phase I and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and assistance with applicable permitting.

A typical Cingular site consists of antenna installations on unmanned towers, water tanks, or rooftops. C&S, however, has also designed more specialized installations including both raw land and stealth sites. Cingular’s radio equipment is typically installed within a pre-manufactured equipment shelter.

Design fees for services provided to Cingular Wireless have totaled approximately $1.2 million.
