Onondaga County Green Stormwater Infrastructure Design
C&S is designing a green stormwater treatment facility as part of the Harbor Brook interceptor sewer rehabilitation project. The treatment facility consists of a custom-designed combination of rain gardens, bio-retention areas, vegetated swales and pervious pavement designed to completely capture approximately 17,500-cubic-feet of stormwater. The project contains walking trails, park benches, native plantings, and interpretive signage. As part of the work at the site, unused impervious surfaces was removed, existing vegetation was preserved, and a blighted area was transformed into a community amenity. These improvements are in an area with a combined sewer. The inlets to the sewer were modified to effectively separate the contributing drainage area from the combined sewer. The project site discharges directly to Harbor Brook. The project was funded by the ARRA Green Project Reserve Grant program.
