Cleveland Airport System Environmental Management Information System
C&S designed a custom data management information system for Cleveland Airport System (CAS), which includes Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and Burke Lakefront Airport. The environmental management information system (EMIS) database serves as a tool to help CAS meet their compliance requirement and achieve their environmental goals. C&S staff has worked closely with the CAS staff in developing a database around CAS requirements and workflow. The customized, database-driven web-based application keeps track of environmental compliance requirements and fosters communication between different airport departments. The database has a simple interface that makes it easy for anyone associated with the project to enter and retrieve important information. Authorized users can access the system from any computer with an Internet connection and do not need any additional software. Multiple users can access and update the data simultaneously from different locations. Features include:
File Management module—All the files and documentation associated with the EMIS are stored and accessible to all authorized individuals.
Event and Work Order Module—Authorized users can log events into the database that can be categorized and stored and reports can be created to summarize events.
GIS and Mapping Module—This module allows users to display maps of the airport and add or delete different layers of information—runways, taxiways, flood zones, wetlands, buildings, aprons, waterfalls, etc.
Alerts Module—This module serves as a reminder for unresolved issues and preventive measures. The EMIS database has a built-in alert system to help users in their day-to-day tasks.
Training Module—The system helps foster employee awareness and educate staff on how their work can impact the environment. Users can download documents and learn about new preventive measures and polices, sign up for training seminars or meetings and take a test after completing the class.
