C&S Wins Four ACEC Project Awards
C&S Companies are proud to announce that the firm received four awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies, New York Chapter, including a Diamond Award, ACEC's highest achievement.
Receiving the Diamond Award was the design and construction management of $53 million of upgrades to the Binghamton Johnson City Joint Sewage Treatment Plant. Complete modernization of processes and replacement of outdated systems increased treatment capacity by 70%. This is the first facility of this type in the country to incorporate three-stage biological aerated filter technology at this scale.
C&S's design and construction management of the new Plattsburgh International Airport passenger terminal received a Platinum Award. When the Plattsburgh Air Force Base was selected as a BRAC closure, Clinton County decided to relocate its airport to the base, creating the new Plattsburgh International Airport. C&S was the architect, engineer, and construction manager for the new 28,800-square-foot, two-story terminal building.
C&S received a Silver Award for an environmental assessment for Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport. C&S prepared an environmental assessment evaluating impacts of removing airspace obstructions (mainly trees) around the airport. A solution was found to preserve an environmentally sensitive area of trees in nearby Sapsucker Woods Sanctuary, owned by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
C&S also received a Silver Award for the Hancock Field Military Entrance Processing Station. C&S, in association with Northland Associates, was selected to design/build a new 24,000-square-foot military entrance processing station. This project successfully brought together the process of design/build with the technology of three-dimensional computer aided drafting and design.
