Expect the Unexpected
I stole the above saying from one of my favorite shows Big Brother (sad but true), but this week, it applies to EMHE as well. About 1:30 on the job site Friday, and depending on who you talk to, things are a few hours behind schedule. The unexpected part? For some reason, we appear to be short a few carpenters and dry wallers. So, if you know anybody, send them out here, pronto!
Took a quick tour of the training facility "barn" and the house in progress—pretty cool. Back to that unexpected thing—workers had three-quarters of the barn sided with white vinyl when producers decided they didn't like it and had them take it all down, replacing it with gray. The blue shirts keep rolling with the punches, though, and the progress is amazing.
With the house completely framed, I was struck by how much bigger the whole property looks as opposed to with the old structures. The Hill family won't recognize the place. But, they sure will be pleased! OK, understatement of the day.
We finally got our media tent up and operational this morning, which has been very helpful in coordinating all the activity. Something we can expect, if today is any indication, is a busy weekend with a lot more spectators.
One last note, for now—don't forget about the eBay auction of painted Adirondack chairs signed by Ty and the four other show designers; all proceeds go to the Hill family. Go to www.mahoneygives.com for more info.
