Outside Looking In

It was an extremely muggy and buggy extreme-makeover Sunday in Geneva, not that the heat has deterred the dedicated build team and volunteers. The house is fully finished on the outside now, and it is quite spectacular. Musing with a local reporter and the official site photographer, we agreed that this new residence is much like a new pair of shoes—a bit shinier than the old ones, but still a comfortable fit. I can honestly say that the new 148 William St. does nothing to detract from the neighborhood, which will no doubt be appreciated by both the Hill family and other residents on the block.

Workers today focused on the home’s outside amenities, such as new white fencing, beautiful lawn grading and landscaping, sidewalks, and a new driveway. Nothing has been missed, not even the free-standing mailbox pleasantly displayed off the front walk. The image is one of Americana at its best.

The environment today up and down the street was much more circus-like, even more so than Braveheart. The crowds have grown exponentially, as anticipation naturally builds for Monday. The X-treme security team earned their keep today. Production cameras and crew re-entered the picture in a noticeable way, as the design team prepared to take the reigns. Furniture and appliances started rolling through the door in the early evening, while boxing equipment and exercise machines headed for the training barn.

A little later in the evening, after several production takes, poised atop the second-floor porch, Tim Mahoney finally handed over the house keys to Ty Pennington, signifying the final phase of this incredible project. Production crew reminded spectators to arrive early Monday and even suggested that overnight camping would ensure a good view of the Hill family’s return and ultimate reveal.

Should make for quite a day on Monday. And I can’t believe anyone would want it any other way.
