Master Planning
C&S sees an airport as gateway to the world and a functional, integral component of the region's social and economic fabric. Airports are not stand-alone facilities limited to air-service. Their development can meet other needs of the community. At C&S, we develop master plans that address the airport's value to community prosperity, while remaining sensitive to effects on adjacent property, on the environment, and on their relationship to the region's transportation network. C&S believes that the cornerstone of every master plan is clearly established goals. It is these goals that create a vision for an airport and help the community and stakeholders reach consensus about development.
C&S has more than 20 years of experience preparing master plans consistent with this vision and with FAA requirements (Advisory Circular 150/5070-6B Airport Master Plans). Our planners have extensive experience in physical inventory, aviation forecasts, demand capacity and facility requirement analyses, plan formulation and implementation. We are also experienced in Part 150 noise studies, including design and implementation of voluntary acquisition programs and residential soundproofing.
Federal Aviation Administration Advisory Circular 150/5070-6B, Airport Master Plans, states that "the goal of a master plan is to provide guidelines for future airport development which will satisfy aviation demand in a financially feasible manner, while at the same time resolving the aviation, environmental and socioeconomic issues existing in the community."
Our approach to master planning is rooted in 40 years of experience at more than 80 airports. We have provided full-scope services for these airports, including master planning, environmental assessments, grant administration, and strategic business planning. Our big picture understanding of the relationship between plans for development, the realities of securing funding, ensuring community support, and real-world constructability means that our clients can rest assured our master plans are realistic and feasible.
