BIM Training

C&S offers a variety of BIM user training programs as described below. Programs may be customized or added as desired, and training can be provided at either a C&S office or customer facility. All programs are under the direction of Eric Wing, nationally recognized trainer, consultant, speaker and author.  Eric has written three books specifically related to the Revit platform, with the latest now available in bookstores and on-line: 

Beginning Revit Architecture (3 day course)

This class will jump in immediately to the core of Revit Architecture, giving students a chance to develop an architectural model at a comfortable pace while covering a vast amount of material. At the end of this three-day class, students will have a strong understanding of the essentials of Revit Architecture and will be able to confidently jump into a project. The outline for this class is as follows:

  • The Revit World 
  • Creating a Model
  • Creating Views
  • Working with the Revit Tools
  • Dimensioning and Annotation
  • Floors
  • Roofs 
  • Structural Items 
  • Ceilings and Interiors
  • Stairs, Ramps, and Railings
  • Schedules and Tags
  • Detailing
  • Creating Specific Views and Match Lines
  • Creating Sheets and Printing

Intermediate Revit Architecture (3 day course)

This class is designed to be taken as either a follow up to the C&S “Beginning Revit Architecture” class, or for firms with some basic understanding of the application. The outline for the class is structured to cover the following material:

  • Creating Rooms and Area Plans
  • Advanced Wall Topics
  • Creating Families
  • Site and Topography

Advanced Revit Architecture (3 day course)

This class is designed to be taken as either a follow up to the C&S “Intermediate Revit Architecture” class, or for firms with a fair amount of experience with application that wish to take their understanding to the next level. The outline for the class is structured to cover the following material:

  • Rendering and Presentation
  • Importing and Coordinating Revit Models, Import / Export
  • Phasing and Design Options
  • Project Collaboration
  • BIM Management

Advanced family creation in Revit Architecture (1 day course)

This class is designed for the firm that would like to harness the full power of the single-most important aspect of BIM. That is the Family. This course will start with creating a simple wall sweep family, then will move to a more complex door family. From there the class will move to an advanced wainscoting family. You can also elect to ask the instructor to develop a family per request in advance of the class, The instructor will then bring the students through the creation.

Revit Architecture on request (Amount of days to be determined)

This class is designed to allow the firm receiving the training to “pick and choose” the topics that will best suit them. Many firms fall under the category of “some of our people know Revit while others don’t”. This class will allow you to converse with the instructor beforehand to decide which topics would best fit your firm.

Beginning Revit Structure (4 day course)

This class will jump in immediately to the core of Revit Structure giving the student a change to develop a structural model at a comfortable pace while covering a vast amount of material. At the end of this three day class, the student will have a strong understanding of the essentials of Revit Structure and will be able to confidentially jump into a project.

  • The basics of Revit Structure
  • The Revit Structure Design Tools
  • Foundation Systems
  • Framing and Concrete Slabs
  • Sheets, Annotating and Detailing

Advanced Revit Structure (3 day course)

This class is designed to be taken as either a follow up to the C&S “Beginning Revit Structure” class, or for firms with a fair amount of experience with application that wish to take their understanding to the next level. The outline for the class is structured to cover the following material:

Advanced family creation in Revit Structure (1 day course)

This class is designed for the firm who would like to harness the full power of the single most important aspect of BIM. That is the Family. This course will start with creating a simple concrete tapered column, then will move to a more complex uplift bridging family. From there the class will move to an advanced truss family. You can also elect to ask the instructor to develop a family per request in advance of the class, The instructor will then bring the students through the creation.

Lunch ‘n Learn Architecture OR Structure (1 hour)

Is it a quick topic you need to learn with no time to actually pick up a book and struggle through it? These Lunch and learn sessions are literally made to order, and can be delivered via WebEx with no additional cost. Or if you would like, the instructor can deliver the “presentation style” class in person.
