BIM

Building information modeling (BIM) uses technology to establish a digital representation of the physical aspects of a facility in 3 dimensions with embedded object information and/or intelligence. The model can be used as a repository for facility information and used by electronic facility management systems.

C&S uses BIM for multi-disciplined vertical construction projects to provide high-quality and efficient designs. In addition, C&S has used BIM on several design-build projects to effectively link design and construction. C&S has made significant investments to ensure our designers and engineers are trained on latest BIM software packages, including:

  • Autodesk Revit Architecture
  • Autodesk Revit Structure
  • Autodesk Revit MEP
  • Autodesk AutoCAD Architecture
  • Autodesk AutoCAD MEP
  • Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Bentley RAM
  • Bentley STAAD
  • Bentley Architecture
  • Bentley Structural
  • Bentley Building Electrical
  • Bentley Building Mechanical
  • Coade CADWorx Plant

The benefits of BIM are endless when compared to traditional 2-D drafting and designing, including:

  • Excellent multi-discipline coordination and conflict identification
  • Intelligent data associated with every object in the model
  • Rapid visualization of the finished product (3-D renderings)
  • Traditional drawing outputs (plans, sections, schedules, etc.) are easily created and updated
  • Non-traditional outputs, such as shop drawing creation, material quantification, cost estimating, energy analyses, and links to finite element analysis (FEA) software
  • Model usage for future building renovations and/or facility management systems
