Commissioning

Commissioning is a systematic and documented process of verifying that all of a building’s systems, including mechanical/HVAC, lighting, plumbing, and standby power, work as they were intended by the design engineers and as required by the building owner. C&S’s commissioning specialists review and inspect the installation and operation of these systems, ensuring all of the equipment operates in an integrated manner, improving reliability, maintainability, and overall efficiency. We also offer training services for a facility’s personnel in the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of systems for proper function and efficiency in the future.

C&S has extensive capabilities in providing commissioning services for

  • Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
  • Building automation/energy management systems
  • Electrical/power systems
  • Lighting systems, including day lighting and other lighting controls
  • Fire protection and life safety systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • Industrial/process systems

Serving as a commissioning authority, C&S joins a project team in the schematic design phase and plays an active role through design and construction and into occupancy. We have been the commissioning authority on many projects receiving the United States Green Building Council’s LEED-NC Certification, as well as projects following New York State Executive Order 111 and the New York State Green Building Tax Credit. C&S has also provided commissioning services for projects applying for NYSERDA funding through their New Construction Program.

C&S also provides retro-commissioning services on existing facilities, including projects receiving LEED-EB Certification.
