Hazlewood earns DBIA certification

Cory Hazlewood, DBIA, vice president of C&S’s general contracting and design-build group, earned a Designated Design-Build Professional (DBIA) certification from the Design-Build Institute of America. It is the design-build industry’s highest professional designation. Hazlewood is based in C&S’s San Diego, California, office, joined the firm in 2002, and has been a principal of the firm since 2008.

Hazlewood has over 20 years of experience in the design and construction industry. His responsibilities include leading the design-build, general contracting, and construction management business for C&S on the West Coast. He has diverse experience leading project teams through complex projects in a variety of market spaces. In his career, Hazlewood has been the responsible principal and/or the active project manager for several projects amounting to over $200 million in multiple market sectors for both public and private clients. Additionally, he was the pioneer on one of the first Public Private Partnership (P3) projects in San Diego County, for a receiving and distribution facility at San Diego International Airport during the Green Build Program. This project was both nationally recognized and locally awarded by various associations.

According to the association, DBIA certification provides the only measurable standard to evaluate a professional’s understanding of Design-Build Done Right® principles. Successful completion of the program requirements earns individuals the right to display “DBIA” after their names, identifying them as experienced design-build professionals. Hazlewood is an active member of the DBIA San Diego Chapter where he holds a leadership position.
