C&S Celebrates the Completion of the Grand Avenue Neighborhood Center

ribbon cuttingC&S’s staff recently attended the ribbon cutting for the Grand Avenue Neighborhood Center and proudly looked on as the City of Orlando’s Mayor Buddy Dyer and other local commissioners opened the facility’s doors to the public for the first time. The $17 million project included the rehabilitation of the historic Grand Avenue Elementary School, originally built in 1926, as one element in the redevelopment and design of a new community center in Orlando’s Holden Heights neighborhood. As part of a design-build team, C&S provided all structural engineering design for this transformative project, integrating the role of the designer and constructor to streamline a unified work flow from initial concept through project completion.

The new youth and family recreation center is situated on a 13-acre site and encompasses an entire street block with new buildings including a gymnasium, pottery studio, art studio, cafeteria, and support facilities. The center will offer a full range of recreation and sports programs as well as after-school and summer programs for local youth.exterior of school
