Onondaga Community College Mulroy Hall Renovations
C&S performed all architectural, structural, MEP, landscape architecture, and construction management to transform a historic 45,000-square-foot, four-story building into classroom and office space. We reconfigured interior partitions; replaced the roof finish, exterior doors, and windows; updated all interior finishes; added an elevator; and completely redesigned MEP systems. To meet current life safety standards, a new interior egress stair, a full sprinkler and fire alarm system, and an emergency generator were added. A state-of-the-art security system and substantial telecommunication system were added. The site focuses on pedestrian circulation, and rain gardens and infiltration basins reduce stormwater discharge. Vehicle and pedestrian circulation patterns complement future development and create a cohesive campus setting with park-like walks. A primary goal for the college was to reduce the impact on the environment while providing administrative office space, and classrooms. The reuse of the existing vacant building reduced construction waste compared to tearing down the building and constructing a new one.
