Roswell Park Cancer Cell Laboratory Renovation
C&S provided architecture, engineering, and construction administration for laboratory renovations on three floors at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Architectural work included space programming, life safety evaluations, ADA accessibility, new room finishes, and lab casework. A new fire alarm system was integrated into the building-wide system and new wet-pipe fire suppression sprinklers were added. A new air handling system, pumps, fans, heat exchangers, and ductwork routing were installed, and temperature controls and fume hoods were added. National Institutes of Health guidelines required an extensive investigation of mechanical systems to determine confirm capacity and redundancy. Plumbing upgrades included natural gas drops, deionized water, new sinks, compressed air outlets, lab vacuum outlets, eye wash stations, and emergency showers. Electrical tasks included reusing the existing distribution system, and reconfiguring the branch circuiting to accommodate power and lighting. New cameras and a door access control system tied into the building-wide system. Wireless and data drops in the offices were designed. Data closets and a new freezer alarm system were added.
