Paradise Valley Community College Aquila Hall
C&S provided civil design for the new $10 million Aquila Hall, including a parking lot layout, utility infrastructure, and drainage improvements for the new 20,000-square-foot classroom building. This is the first phase of the a campus expansion, with four additional buildings included in the master plan. The new parking lot was designed around a known archaeological site. However, a second archaeological study during the design phase enlarged the site and forced a re-design. The expanded parking lot adds 119 parking spaces, including six handicap accessible spaces. New sewer and natural gas line extensions were installed from existing main lines along the southern property line to the new building. Domestic, fire and irrigation waterlines were tapped into a waterline loop surrounding the existing PVCC building. A detention basin was partially filled to create the new parking lot, but was also extended to ensure stormwater runoff is captured properly and released at a controlled rate to the natural washes outside the project area.
