SEQR for Mixed-Use Redevelopment
C&S assessed the environmental impacts associated with the five-year build out plans for the former Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital. We managed the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) elements of the contentious Gates Circle Redevelopment project, redeveloped the former hospital into a mixed-use space. We were instrumental in the production, distribution, and dissemination of information regarding adverse impacts from site redevelopment. We led the preparation of the generic environmental impact statement to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the environment and people in the project’s vicinity. The draft generic environmental impact statement covered land use and zoning, visual and aesthetic resources, and socioeconomic impacts, among others. C&S also helped complete a final generic environmental impact statement and a findings statement concluding the environmental review. C&S’s involvement led to City of Buffalo Planning Board approval.
