Letchworth State Park South Pool Complex Repurposing
New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (NYSOPRHP) initially retained C&S to lead schematic level efforts to modify and repurpose the South Pool Complex at Letchworth State Park. These efforts included review of documentation, field assessments, development of exterior space concepts, and cost estimating culminated in schematic phase drawings and a comprehensive design report. C&S subsequently led the team to advance full design to demolish the pool and related systems for conversion to a multi-use, accessible exterior recreation space with exercise areas, children’s climbing area, recreational courts and game tables. The new exterior space is accented by an elevated viewing promenade, perimeter path, landscape buffers, drainage improvements and energy-efficient lighting. The design provides for renovation and upgrades of the bathhouse exterior and interior mindful of preserving the structure’s history and form. Design efforts were coordinated with various NYSOPRHP stakeholders aided by C&S-developed renderings to facilitate visualization. C&S saw the project through completion by providing Construction Management services.
