Syracuse University Laboratory Renovations
At the Life Sciences Complex, C&S assisted Syracuse University in creating state-of-the-art environments for top researchers. The spaces they inhabit and the equipment they use must support and advance their scientific mission. New rooms for specific research functions were designed within several existing laboratories. Through interviews with the researchers, the critical issues of each space were determined. Proper ventilation and durable finishes were necessary in the rodent surgery room, while acoustics were the primary concern in a room dedicated to the study of whale calls. Each room required detailed architectural and mechanical design to suit its intended purpose and connection to existing building services and communications. An environmental growth chamber with precise temperature and humidity control was included for potato plant experimentation. Very clear communication was needed to ensure the system was delivered with the correct temperature and humidity control, lighting, and that its components fit in the space.
