LEED Gold-Events Center and Arena
Onondaga Community College’s LEED Gold SRC Arena is a 200-foot-by-300-foot clear span pre-engineered building that holds 8,000 people. C&S was the design engineer for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety, security, AV/communications, and site civil services. We were also the program and construction manager. The facility includes three tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts inside a 200-meter, 6-lane track. Serving the main event center space is a box office, performer green room and locker rooms, media room, 2,000-square-foot sky box, event controls offices, two concession stands, two multipurpose rooms, and bathrooms. Extensive site work included a connection to the campus site distribution with a new gas service including a new meter and regulator. A bio-retention area to capture and treat stormwater run-off was built, and an existing retention pond was expanded vegetated. The entire project was designed using building information modeling. The single 3D model was shared between consultants and across disciplines, ensuring optimal coordination between trades.
