Hillburn Energy Facility
About the Project
The Hillburn Energy Facility is a peak generating station. Peak generating stations generally run when there is a high electrical demand. The applicant proposes to add a water injection air pollution control system to control oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions at the Hillburn Gas Turbine Facility. In addition, the facility will use only natural gas during the ozone season to meet the regulatory requirements of 6 NYCRR Subpart 227-3. The proposed Hillburn facility will maintain its current limit on operating hours, as well as commit to limiting carbon monoxide (CO) and NOx emissions in order to comply with state regulatory requirements implemented for the safety of the surrounding communities.
