Project

Greater Binghamton Health Center Building 75 Renovation

DASNY contracted with the Office of Mental Health (OMH) to remodel approximately a 7,800-square-foot space, converting the existing space into an office area for the OMH administrative staff.

The project consisted of multiple prime contracts (GC, Electric, Plumbing/HVAC, and Sprinkler). This project included the abatement of pipe insulation and pipe fittings and a complete removal of existing finishes, partitions, and ceilings. During the abatement and demolition phase, it was discovered that the existing space was not up to current codes for fire stopping of pipe penetrations through the floor below and ceiling above. The existing conditions resulted in 26 change orders for additional work and resulted in a one month extension of time to complete the added work scope.

Additional work included ceiling removal/replacement, additional abatement, fire stopping of over 300 penetrations, spray foam insulation added to exterior walls and the removal and replacement of over 1,200 linear feet of perimeter partitions to bring the space to current energy codes. C&S was able to meet the contract completion date, with a minimal punch list, thanks to quality subcontractors and our site superintendent’s commitment to the project.
