Project

Interstate Route 390 Interchange Improvements

On one of the first design-build projects undertaken by the New York State Department of Transportation in Upstate New York, C&S designed a new layout for the multi-ramp Exit 16 A-B-C at I-390 with East and West Henrietta roads in suburban Rochester, a main point of access for the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital, and Monroe Community College campuses. The new design included a flyover connector road between the two crossing streets, rehabilitation of an existing connector road, and design of three ramps. Other features included new overhead guide signs, concrete barrier, curbing with closed drainage, and landscaping that replaced all existing vegetation removed by grading with new plantings on an equal basis. A multi-phased work zone traffic control plan was developed to ensure all traffic could be maintained safely on-site while the new facilities were constructed.
