Employee Spotlight: Anthony Cobb, Engineer

Our team is more than just a group of individuals –
they are the heartbeat of C&S Companies.

It’s time to get to know the next amazing person who makes C&S an inspiring place to work and grow! Today, we are recognizing and shining a light on Anthony Cobb, a member of the incredible Aviation group.

Where are you located?

I am located in the Philidelphia office and have been with C&S for four years.

What does a typical day at C&S look like?

I head into the office and check my email to be sure I am on top of needs and any follow ups! After, I login into my work spot, where I spend about 90% of my time working on CADD drawings, performing cost estimates, working on technical specs, and filling out reports. But here’s the secret sauce: every document has a purpose! Each drawing or estimate contributes to something bigger – shaping projects and making ideas come to life.

What drew you to your career choice?

Since I was in elementary school, I wanted to be a zoologist. It was my dream to work with animals. I ended up going to an agriculture-based school in Philly. There was a farm, an aquarium, and animals. Everything I dreamed of, until I got there. They make you take every elective they have available your freshman year, so you can get a feel for which route you want to take. I’m so glad they did, because I quickly realized animal science was not for me. I ended up taking Environmental Science and Natural Resource Management. There, I met an environmental engineer who was a student teacher at my school. I told him I didn’t know what I wanted to do anymore. He told me I would make a good engineer. From there I set out to become an engineer, and never looked back.

I knew absolutely nothing about aviation, so I knew it was the perfect field for me. It was an opportunity to be uncomfortable, to learn, and to grow.

What motivates you?

I would have to say learning. Finding out new things in general, but it could be about other people or even me. It keeps me grounded, because the more I learn the more I realize I how much I don’t know.

What are your favorite types of projects to work on?

I’m still pretty new in my career, so I haven’t worked on a ton of projects to say which type is my favorite. I can say my favorite project thus far has been the Obstruction Removal at Trenton Mercer. It has a lot of moving parts and I’ve gotten to work with a lot of people in different disciplines, inside and outside of C&S.

Which of the C&S Core Values resonates with you the most?

Authenticity. It’s our own individual superpower. Growing up we all have idols, people we aspire to be like. I still have them. What I’m learning is that you can never be a better them. It’s like chasing the horizon. But that means nobody can be a better you, than you. Its liberating being yourself, trying to be something or someone else is exhausting and dangerous.

When not at work where can you be found having fun?

During the weekends you can catch me biking, running, or walking anywhere my feet can get me to. I love walking around Philly, I’ve lived here my whole life and I’m still finding out about new places.

What is your favorite TV Show/Podcast/Movie/Author etc.?

If you ever watched the Matrix, you have been truly blessed.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

Never take advice from someone you wouldn’t trade places with.

Short term thinking creates short term results.

We hope you have enjoyed our most recent employee spotlight as much as we enjoy sharing such amazing team members! Thank you, Anthony!
